LATEST OPINION POLL SURVEY RESULTS: RAILA ODINGA AND CORD COULD WIN KENYA’S PRESIDENCY IN THE FIRST ROUND OF THE ELECTION SAYS INFOTRAK

Latest opinion poll

The latest opinion poll to be published in Kenya suggests Raila Odinga and Kilonzo Musyoka’s CORD would get 51 per cent of the vote if the election had been held in late December, compared to 39 per cent for Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto’s Jubilee Alliance ticket.

The survey by Infotrak Research & Consulting conducted across 1,500 respondents in 25 counties between December 28 and January 2 is the first to suggest that Raila Odinga could win the presidency in the first round of the election.

The same polling agency’s survey in early December put the Odinga/Musyoka pairing on 47 per cent against that of Kenyatta/Ruto on 41 per cent.

Other results from the opinion poll suggest that Musalia Mudavadi and the UDF have slumped to 3 per cent support; Peter Kenneth and Raphael’s Eagle ticket is also on three per cent support; whilst Martha Karua and James Kiyiapi are languishing at 0.3 and 0.1 per cent respectively.

If it is an accurate poll then with a gap of 12 per cent between the two leading teams of contenders for the presidency, the race could be all but over with still 49 days to go to polling on March 4th.
