The senate has demanded for the immediate arrest of the two prominent bloggers in the country who have been publishing animosity posts against Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar.

The Former KNCHR chairman Hassan Omar told the senate that Willy Omosa and Mugo Wa Wairimu have allegedly been calling for his elimination.

He mentioned that the two had through a series of hate posts on social media, called for his assassination on claims that he has links with Al-shabaab and that he should be eliminated in a way similar to that of controversial Muslim cleric Sheikh Abubakar Sharrif alias Makaburi.

“I have already reported the matter to the DPP (Director of Public Prosecution) but no action has been taken so far. The posts had elicited excitement among the followers of the two bloggers,” said Omar.

“I have never been scared in my life, but there is a red line which has been crossed. We do not live in a kangaroo State where people publish that kind of information and get away with it.” He said.

A fierce debate ensued in the senate over the matter with the House unanimously demanding for the bloggers prosecution.

Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr maintained that such claims should be investigated thoroughly and cited that his late father, the late Mutula Kilonzo Snr had received such threats prior to his mysterious death.

“These threats should not be taken lightly as even my late father had received such threats before he died under unclear circumstances,” he said.

Senate Majority Leader Kithure Kindiki asked the government to provide adequate security to Mr Omar saying that such threats should not be taken lightly.

“I condemn the threats directed at the senator and ask the Speaker Ekwee Ethuro to write on behalf of senate to the Director of Criminal Investigation Ndegwa Muhoro, Inspector-General of Police David Kimaiyo and the Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko for appropriate action,” he said.
