Aliko Dangote – Africa’s richest man want to buy Arsenal Football Club

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has rekindled his interest in acquiring a majority stake in Arsenal football club.

The Nigerian billionaire, who had been linked with an approach to buy a stake in the club in 2010, believes that Arsenal needs a change of direction under a new ownership if they are to progress in the Premier League.

“They are doing well, but they need another strategic direction,” Dangote told the BBC.

“They need more direction than the current situation, where they just develop players and sell them.”

67 percent stake in Arsenal is currently owned by American businessman Stan Kroenke, while Red and White Holdings, supported by Russian magnate Alisher Usmanov who owns 30 percent.

Forbes ranks Dangote 58yrs, as Africa’s richest man and 67th on the list of the world’s richest with an estimated $15.7 billion worth.
