MPs bid to get Monica Juma removed from job as Interior Secretary

The row between MPs and Monica Juma seems to be far from over as the legislators are now seeking to have her fired from her current position as Interior Principal Secretary, barely a week after they rejected her nomination for Secretary to the Cabinet.

Chairman of the National Assembly Committee on Administration and National Security Asman Kamama has said that parliament does not have confidence in Monica Juma as a public servant and they may ask the Public Service Commission to sack her as his committee would not work with her, on grounds that she had underperformed.

The National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale however dismissed the new ploy.

“Whatever committees decide must be approved by the entire House. What was before the National Assembly was the nomination of Monica Juma as Secretary to the Cabinet, which ended,” said Duale at a news conference in Parliament.

WITCH HUNT

Kenyans have defended Monica Juma from the ‘witch hunt’ by MPs and even took to social media last week under the hashtag #KenyansForMonicaJuma to express their disappointment with parliament over the saga.

Ababu Namwamba:  As PS at OP Monica Juma helped my PAC expose the “Confidential Expenditure” cash cow. The evil forces that hounded me are the same after her.

Martha Karua‏ The rejection of Dr Monica Juma was not in the best interests of the country but merely to spite her for discharging her duties professionally

Michael Nginye: ‏ Whenever MPs from both coalitions agree on an issue we can be sure public interests are not on menu #KenyansForMonicaJuma

Snr. Chege Wa Kimani: Whoever said “diapers & politicians should be changed often 4 the same reason” was right. Our mpigs now need change. #KenyansForMonicaJuma
