Nicholas Hailey to be new British High Commissioner to Kenya

The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has announced the appointment of Nicolas (Nic) Hailey as the incoming British High Commissioner to Kenya.

Hailey will take over from the incumbent Christian Turner in December this year, who has been office since May 2012, but whose term is coming to an end.

“Dr. Turner will remain in post until this time, after which he will be transferring to another UK Diplomatic Service appointment,” the British High Commission in Nairobi said in a statement.

Hailey is currently the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) Director for Africa, a position he has held since 2013, having previously held postings in in Kabul, Washington, Paris and Berlin.

“Prior to this he held postings in Kabul, Washington, Paris and Berlin. He will be joined in Nairobi by his wife and two daughters,” the statement said.

“I am delighted to have been appointed as British High Commissioner to the Republic of Kenya. I look forward to arriving in Kenya as our historic partnership reaches a new level, based on shared interests, trust and mutual respect,” he said.
