MATIANG’I SET TO RELEASE 2015 KCSE RESULTS

kcse-resultsEducation CS Fred Matiang’i is set to release the 2015 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results today at the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) offices in Nairobi.

A total of 525,802 sat their KCSE exams last year, an 8.3 per cent increase from 485,547 the previous year

The 2015 national exams, which were marked by massive irregularities, were almost affected following a five week teacher’s strike that had paralyzed learning in public schools.(Link on an article on strike)

Matiang’i was however quoted earlier in the week saying the ministry together with KNEC had come up with a system to fight exam cheating and would announce the plans today.

“I will deliver the statement and all other policy issues on Thursday. So, allow me not to pre-empt what I will say on this,” he said.

The CS also said that he would address the issue of schools ranking, which was abolished two years ago. Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa tabled a Bill in Parliament, which seeks to reintroduce the ranking of schools in the national exams.
