CORD wins Malindi, Jubilee takes Kericho in by-election results

CORD retained Malindi’s parliamentary seat after its candidate, Willy Mtengo, won the just concluded by election.

Mr Mtengo won the seat after garnering 15,582 votes to trounce Jubilee’s Philip Charo who garnered 9,243 votes.

Meanwhile in Kericho, it was a big win for the jubilee alliance and particularly for JAP following the landslide win of Aaron Cheruiyo won the Kericho senate seat.

Mr Cheruiyot garnered 109,358 votes, beating his closest competitor, Kanu’s Paul Sang who scored56,307 votes in the hotly contested by-election that had been drawn out as a supremacy battle pitting DP William Ruto against Kanu’s Chairman Gideon Moi as to who is the region’s kingpin.

This was a by-election initially mired in controversy because of allegations of bribes being made to members of the electorate.
