Collins Injera became the all-time top try scorer on Saturday in the the 2015-16 Sevens World Series in London after making his 231st try, which took him past the previous record of 230 set by Argentina’s Santiago Gomez Cora.

His elder brother, Humphrey Kayange, set him up for his 231st try in the dying seconds of Kenya’s 29-12 defeat by France.

SHIELD FOR KENYA SEVENS

Kenya signed off the 2016 HSBC Sevens World Series campaign with a Shield title after beating Russia 31-7 in Twickenham London on Sunday.

Willy Ambaka put Kenya ahead after which Collins Injera added the score for Kenya. Nelson Oyoo made it try number three before Collins Injera scored his 235th series try making him the all-time try scorer in the history of the World Rugby Sevens Series.

Russia pulled one back through Ramil Gaysin but that seemed to only provoke Kenya to score another try through Nelson Oyoo, fading the hopes of any comeback from Russia.

To get to the Shield Cup final, Kenya had outsmarted Brazil 38-5 in the Shield semifinals to qualify for the final of the London 7s Shield but that was after losing narrowly 21-19 to Wales in the Bowl quarter finals early on thus dropping to the Shield Cup.
