A short documentary directed by local actor and now filmmaker Lowry Odhiambo, famed for his role in the award-winning movie VEVE, has qualified as a nominee in Australia’s annual Focus on Ability (FOA) Short Film Festival awards.

Lowry’s entry, Runway Dreams, captures the inspiring story of Vivian Mansaray, a 25-year-old runway model from Sierra Leone Living with a speech impediment, which has not stopped her from living her runway dream in Kenya.

Focus on Ability is a short film festival, run by Nova employment, which focuses on the abilities of people with a disability with the aim of changing the society’s attitudes towards them.

FOA Film Festival calls for films that showcase the ability of people with a disability. These short films and documentaries break down the barriers for people with a disability to participate fully in society, mainly through encouraging viewers to shift their perspective
