LATEST OPINION POLLS SHOW UHURU WOULD WIN ELECTIONS WHILE MUDAVADI IS THE MOST PREFERRED LUHYA SPOKEMAN

Book1A recent poll conducted by two University of Nairobi dons, dubbed ‘An Analytical Study of Kenya’s Political Leadership Status and Outlook’ show President Uhuru Kenyatta would win the elections in the first round winning by 50 percent-plus one which is required  to avoid a rerun. His closes rival is Cord leader, Raila Odinga with 35.1n per cent followed by Deputy President William Ruto and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka who tie on 2.3 percent.

The poll, sponsored by Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli seemed to focus on the presidential race and the political situation in Western Kenya.

Amani leader, Musalia Mudavadi was named the Luhya community spokesman in an event at Bukhungu Stadium organised by Atwoli. This was after the poll results were released which showed Mudavadi leading by 39 percent of the respondents, followed by Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and Bungoma Senator, Moses Wetangula, who tied at 30 percent each. Former ODM Secretary, Ababu Namwamba only managed to get 0.4 percent.

Book1-3According to the researchers, majority of the respondents had gone through some formal education, with only 0.4 percent without any formal education. 32.6 percent had completed secondary education and 33 percent had studied beyond secondary school level. The statistic was meant to show that the respondents were enlightened.

The study was done in 17 towns around the country with a total sample of 530 respondents between July 19 and October 5, 2016.

“The research was conducted professionally, stored in a KCB bank  and released at Bukhungu Stadium during the Mulembe Declaration,” said Atwoli.
