SONKO BEATS PETER KENNETH FOR NAIROBI GOVERNOR IN PRIMARIES

Sonko beats Kenneth in Jubilee primaries

Senator Mike sonko is the man that will faceoff Kidero in Nairobi county’s gubernatorial race in the august elections after he clinched jubilee’s party ticket.

Sonko overwhelmingly beat his biggest challenger, peter Kenneth, after garnering 138,185 votes ahead of Kenneth who got 62,504 votes in the highly contested primaries.

Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, who was arrested on the nominations day, came in a distant third with 7,654 votes.

Peter Kenneth cried foul as soon as tallying begun and provisional results showed Sonko was leading, saying that the process was flawed and called for a repeat.

“I disassociate myself from the sham election that Jubilee Party purported to have and demand the same elections be nullified,” he said in a press statement.

PK, as he is popularly referred to also accused his rival of importing a massive number of voters from Kajiado and Machakos counties in addition to bribery.

“There were cases of outright bribery by some of the candidates outside polling stations to alter the true voting outcome,” he said.

Sakaja for Senate

In the Senate race, nominated MP Johnson Sakaja emerged top with 163,446 votes ahead of the second aspirant Kavemba Mutinda (33,109) and Badi Ali (10,132).
