KENYA AIRWAYS RESUMES DIRECT FLIGHTS TO CAIRO

Kenya Airways resumes direct flights to Cairo

The national airline (KQ) has resumed direct flights from Nairobi to Cairo, in a code-share agreement signed with EgyptAir (MS) aimed at improving connectivity and access in Northern Africa.

The agreement will see EgyptAir load Kenya Airways flight code on the Egyptian carriers’ four flights between Cairo and Nairobi from June 1st, 2017.

The code-share partnership will initially cover six routes namely; Cairo, Istanbul, Mombasa, Dar es Salaam, Lusaka and Harare

Kenya Airways Group Managing Director and CEO Sebastian Mikosz in a statement said that the partnership will enable both carriers to offer customers seamless connectivity between Kenya and Egypt.

Our guests will now be able to enjoy flights to Cairo either directly from Nairobi or through Entebbe or Khartoum,” Mikosz said.

“As African Airlines, partnerships are our biggest opportunity as we seek to sustainably develop Africa. This is indeed in line with the core purpose of Kenya Airways,” he said.

Kenya Airways operations between Nairobi and Cairo have been suspended since August 2013.

KQ Launches Direct Flights to Victoria Falls

Last month, Kenya Airways launched direct flights to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

Victoria Falls is now Kenya Airways second destination to Zimbabwe after Harare where it operates 21 flights weekly.

Mr Sebastian Mikosz, who took office on 1st June 2017, was also appointed to the role of Group Managing Director & CEO to take over from Mbuvi Ngunze.

Road to Recovery

Last month, KQ also announced that it had cut its net loss for the year ending March by 60.9 per cent to Sh 10.2billion down from Sh 26.2 billion last year.
