NASA Strategist David Ndii “Arrested”

The whereabouts of National Super Alliance (NASA) Chief Strategist and highly respected global Economist, David Ndii are still unknown, following his “arrest” in Diani, Kwale County on Sunday evening in controversial circumstances.

Even though the government has denied arresting Ndii, NASA says they have reports that he was being questioned at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

“David Ndii currently being questioned at DCI HQ in Nairobi over incitement allegations. Apparently, he was driven to Nairobi overnight. He is at Serious Crimes Unit offices,” Raila Odinga’s Spokesman Dennis Onyango said.

The Daily Nation reports that according to David Ndii’s wife, Mwende Gatabaki, who was staying with him at Leopard Beach Hotel in Diani when he was apprehended, he was arrested by seven officers from the flying squad unit outside the hotel.

The officers allegedly also went ahead to search their hotel room and said they were taking him to Diani police station, although when she went to the station 10 minutes later she did not find him.

Coast region police commandant Larry Kieng said they are not aware of Ndii’s arrest and denied that he is in their custody.

“We do not have such a person in our custody,” said Mr Kieng.

Nasa leadership has linked Ndii’s arrest to the economist’s role in the formation of the People’s Assembly, an Assembly made up of politicians, civil society activists, and others, which the coalition says is the final pillar in the restoration of democracy and electoral reforms.

Ndii was on Friday appointed to lead Nasa’s seven-member organizing committee that is expected to deliberate and produce the roadmap towards restoring democracy, just governance, and legitimate leadership through the People’s Assembly.

“My Husband is Not  A Criminal”-Mwende Gatabaki

Mrs Ndii , an ICT expert, has earlier today while addressing a press conference demanded the release, of her husband saying he is not a criminal.

“My husband is not a criminal, my husband is not corrupt, he’s never taken anything that belongs to the public or committed any crime anyone is aware of,” an agitated Mwende Gatabaki said.
