Oprah Winfrey has become the first black woman to receive the lifetime achievement award at the 75th Golden Globes on Sunday in a glamorous ceremony held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.

“It’s not lost on me that at this moment there are some little girls watching as I become the first black woman to be given this award,” Oprah said in her acceptance speech.

“Am especially proud and inspired by all the women, who have felt strong enough and empowered enough to speak up and share their personal stories,” she said

Oprah also addressed the sexual misconduct scandal that has reeked Hollywood.

“This year, we became the story. But it’s not a story affecting the entertainment industry, its one that transcends any culture, geography, race, religion, politics or what place.

“So today I want to accept gratitude to all the women who have endured years of abuse and assault because they like my mother had children to feed, bills to pay and dreams to pursue,” she said to a thunderous applause from the audience.

SEXUAL HARASSMENT STORM IN HOLLYWOOD

Oprah was alluding to the sexual harassment scandal that hit Hollywood in August 2017 following the numerous sexual assault allegations raised against American film producer and former film studio director, Harvey Weinstein.

A number of Hollywood’s actresses including Lupita Nyong’o and Angelina Jolie came out publicly to claim that Harvey sexually assaulted or harassed them at some point in their interactions with him.

OPRAH WINFREY FOR PRESIDENT

Seth Meyers, American comedian, political commentator, and television host, who was the host of the 75th Golden Globe Awards made a suggestive joke about Oprah Winfrey running for US presidency in 2022 by quoting the a similar joke during a White House correspondents’ dinner gig where he joked that Donald Trump wasn’t qualified to be president.

“Some have said that night convinced him to run. So, if that’s true, I just want to say: Oprah, you will never be president! You do not have what it takes. And Hanks! Where’s Hanks? You will never be vice president. You are too mean and unrelatable. Now we just wait and see.” Seth said as he opened the awards show.

There’s been talk that Winfrey is considering running for US president.
