IPSOS REPORT-RUTO MOST PREFERABLE CANDIDATE FOR 2022 ELECTIONS

An Ipsos survey has revealed that deputy president William Ruto is the most preferred candidate for the presidency in the 2022 elections.
According to the report, Ruto took the lead as the most preferred candidate at 30 percent, followed by Gideon Moi and Mombasa governor Hassan Joho at 14 percent.
21 percent of the respondents said the DP is not very likely to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta but held that there is a possibility.
Interestingly Joho ranks high in the survey as a preferred candidate ahead of the Nasa principals, including Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi, and Moses Wetangula.
Opposition leader Raila Odinga was ranked a distant fourth at 14 percent.
ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi ranks fourth at eight percent followed by Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka at six percent.
Ruto has been poised as the man to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in line with the 2013 pre-election pact between the two but there has been a widespread suspicion that Mt Kenya voters will automatically back the DP in 2022.
While speaking on JKL on Wednesday, Professor Makau Mutua said that it was not likely that Uhuru will honour the 2013 MOU, saying that Kenya is a country of political betrayal and Ruto will not be the first politician to be betrayed
