IEBC COMMISSIONERS RESIGN

IEBC vice Chairperson Consolata Nkatha and Commissioners Paul Kurgat and Margaret Mwachanya announced their resignation on Monday citing mistrust and a lack of direction on the chairman’s  part.

“For too long and way too many times, the commission chair has failed iebcto be the steady and stable hand that steers the ship in difficult times, and gives directions when needed,” the three IEBC commisioners said.

The commissioners, who spoke in a joint press conference, further stated that the IEBC has become unstable due to external interference.

“The commission boardroom has become a venue for peddling misinformation, grounds for brewing mistrust, and a space for scrambling for and chasing individual glory and credit.”

Chebukati termed the resignation of the three commissioners as “insecere” and maintained that he will not resign as demanded .

The IEBC chair further accused   Nkatha, and Commissioners Kurgat and Mwachanya of failiure to surrender public assets assigned to them despite having announced their resignations.

CHILOBA

The resignation of the three IEBC chiefs comes just days after the commission’s CEO Ezra Chiloba was sent on a three -month compulsory leave over a procurement issue.

IEBC chairperson Consolata Nkatha and Paul Kurgat had reportedly walked out of the meeting where Chiloba was ousted in protest, terming the move as “unprocedural”.
