PS Lilian Omollo Collapses In Lang’ata Women’s Prison

Public Service and Youth Principal Secretary (PS) Lilian Omollo has been rushed to hospital after she collapsed in Lang’ata Women’s Prison, where she was being held from Tuesday evening pending her charges on the recent NYS scandal.

Mrs Omollo together with the National Youth Service Director-General Richard Ndubai and 22 other suspects implicated in the NYS scam are to remain in custody for about a week as they await a ruling on their bail application, after Anti-Corruption Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti said he will deliver the on June 5.

The Milimani Chief Magistrate made the ruling on Tuesday night after a prolonged courtroom session that took over 12 hours.

Her lawyers are demanding that the suspended PS be moved from Kenyatta hospital, where she is receiving treatment, to a hospital of her choice.

Mrs Omollo and Mr Ndubai are facing multiple charges, which include; abuse of office, failure to comply with the guidelines and procedures on public finance management as well as conspiracy to commit economic crime.

Mr Ndubai and other male suspects are being held at the Industrial Area Remand Prison.

Lilian Omollo was in remand with the infamous Ngirita’s family members.

The Ngirita sisters — Anne Ngirita and Njeri Ngirita have been charged alongside their mother Lucy Ngirita and brother Jeremiah Ngirita for allegedly receiving sh 300 million for supplying “air”.
