MURDER SUSPECT DIES IN PARKLANDS POLICE STATION, PLAN TO KILL LAWYER CHARLES KANJAMA REVEALED

plot to kill lawyer Charles Kanjama revealed

A prime murder suspect in the case surrounding Garissa Governor Ali Korane in connection to last week’s shooting of ex-County Finance County Executive Idriss Mukhtar was found dead in a cell at the Parklands police station.

Although the police have said the suspect, David Mwai Wanjiru aka Mwas committed suicide by hanging himself, the public and a section of officers at the station fear Mwas was eliminated to conceal evidence. Mwas is reportedly the gunman that pulled the trigger.

The Garissa governor was arrested on Tuesday alongside three other people whom police believe were involved in the attempted murder of the former county executive.

Idris Aden Mukhtar was shot in the head at close range last Sunday and left for dead outside a hotel in Kileleshwa. He survived but is admitted in hospital in critical condition.

LAWYER CHARLES KANJAMA TARGETTED IN MURDER PLOT

Details have also emerged that lawyer Charles Kanjama, who is also Idris Aden Mukhtar’s advocate was also targetted in the murder plot. The plan was to allegedly eliminate both the client and his lawyer.

As The Standard Newspaper reports, the gunman that shot Idris had in the company of a woman posed as clients and went to Kanjama’s office to seek his legal representation.

“The two posed as clients asking to be represented in a case of police abuse. They reportedly paid Sh3,000 as consultation fee before they met Kanjama in his office to narrate their ‘ordeal’,” The Standard reports.

Kanjama, while recording a statement with the police positively identified the two suspects.

Police said that they have recovered Sh400,000 from the suspects in Mukhtar’s shooting. The money was part of Sh2.4 million allegedly paid by the person who was plotting to kill Mukhtar and his lawyer, Charles Kanjama.

The chilling details of the attempted murder of Lawyer Charles Kanjama and his client  Idriss Mukhtar bring to memory the sad tale of the late human rights advocate Willy Kimani, who was murdered alongside his client  Josphat Mwendwa and their taxi driver Joseph Muiruriand in 2016.
