Ochillo Ayacko has been voted as the incoming senator, Migori county after beating his closest rival Eddy Oketch (FPK ) by a close margin.

Ayacko garnered 85,234 votes (57  per cent) against Eddy Oketch’s  60,555 (40 per cent)

Eddy Oketch has conceded defeat in the just concluded Migori by-election but said  ODM Leaders interfered with the election.

The seat fell vacant after former Migori Senator Ben Oluoch Okello died in July.

Mr Okello, a former Ramogi and KBC radio presenter, passed on at a Nairobi hospital after a long battle with cancer.

Ayacko had run for the Migori gubernatorial race and was Governor Okoth Obado’s closest rival, in what had been touted as a two horse race.

The Incumbent Migori Governor Okoth Obado won by  201,369 against Ochillo Ayacko’s  113,673 even though the latter disputed the results.

EDDY OKETCH DECLARED “MAN TO WATCH” IN KENYA’S POLITICS

Observers have however congratulated Eddy Oketch for a stunning performance, saying he could have just won the election if the political party factor was not in favour of Ayacko.

Below are some of the views shared on Twitter;
PERATO_N SENIOR: Congratulations Eddy Oketch for setting a good precedence to fellow Kenyan Youths and showing the political demigods that soon, norms of old guards selecting whom they want will change in Kenyan politics. Ochillo Ayacko, your days in Senate are few.

Joy Eve:You should congratulate Eddy Oketch not Ochillo Ayacko

Cde.Netía Shiundu™: Eddy Oketch is what Raila doesn’t want to see; a new generation of leaders for Luo politics. He recycles rejects like Ochillo Ayacko to massage his fragile ego.
