Jury of National Scriptwriters Competition Unveiled

The Kenya Film Commission (KFC), Kenya Film School on Thursday unveiled a 9-member jury that will review the best script in the recently launched National Scriptwriter’s competition.

According to ICT Cabinet Secretary, Joe Mucheru, who was the chief guest at the juror’s unveiling ceremony, there was a total of 546 entries for the competition, whose submission deadline closed yesterday.

PS, ICT & Innovation, PS Jerome Ochieng‏, also announced that the film sector was a key area of focus for investment in the manufacturing pillar in president Uhuru Kenyatta’s Big Four agenda.

“The film industry is the sector that we have focused on the most,” Jerome said.

Ms. Njoki Muhoho: Filmmaker/ Management Consultant Academy Director for the Multichoice Talent Factory.

Ann Hamberger: she’s an Actress, Producer and Businesswoman. She is the co-owner of Ashiner Pictures and RAIA T.V alongside Henry Lenga a renowned Scriptwriter, Director and Actor. She is the CEO of both Ashiner and Raia TV

Victoria Ngoro : Deputy Director (Academic) at Kenya Film School. She holds a BA (Hons) and M.A in Communication Studies from the University of Nairobi. #BestScriptKE

Eugene Mbugua: Content Creator/Writer/Producer/Director who holds a degree in television production & print media from @USIUAfrica. He was the youngest producer with a show on Kenyan national television when at 22 his first TV show Young Rich premiered on K24.

Reuben Odanga : a passionate filmmaker with over 10 years’ practical experience in the industry. He has produced & directed award-winning TV Swahili Telenovela namely Selina best Tv drama- Kalasha awards 2018, Saida Kalasha awards -2014, Nira and more.

Mona Ombogo: Author, scriptwriter and a video blogger who has been in the Kenyan Film Industry since August 2007. Mona was trained in London as a scriptwriter for Television and Film and further advanced her skills by attending several workshops globally #BestScriptKE

Fredrick Mbogo, PhD: Senior Lecturer at The @TechnicalUni’s Department of Music and Performing arts. He holds a Theatre Arts Degree from Moi University and has a Dramatic Arts Masters degree from The University of The Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. #BestScriptKE

Appie Matere: Film Producer/ Director Zamaradi Productions Ltd / MNET / Africa Magic Appie Matere is a highly gifted, creative, energetic and enthusiastic Film Producer with over 13 years’ experience.

Eston N. Munyi: Lecturer at @KenyattaUni /KIMC with over 30 years of experience in the film industry and holds a diploma in Film/video production from KIMC and a certificate in Advanced Film Production from Kay film Studios in London and BBC.
