WRONG FOOTING – HARAMBEE STARS LOSES AFCON OPENING MATCH TO ALGERIA

2019 Africa Cup of Nations

It was a poor start for the national team, Harambee Stars, on Sunday night, after the team conceded two goals to Algeria, in their opening match for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Harambee Stars, who made a come back to the continental showpiece after 15 years, had a visible nervous start into the match.

First-half goals from the Desert Foxes gave the Algerians the three points they needed to get a headstart in their group.

Harambee Stars qualified for the 2019 Federation Cup Of African Nations (AFCON) in December following the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee decision to disqualify Sierra Leone from the tournament.

With Senegal beating Tanzania 2-0 earlier on at the same venue in another Group C match, Kenya is under extreme pressure and must win the next game against neighbours Tanzania on Thursday and win against Senegal or at worst force a draw to stand a chance of getting out of the group.
