Mass Testing Resumes In Eastleigh

The government has today resumed mass testing for COVID-19 in Eastleigh as residents continue to cope with the lock down enforced by President Uhuru Kenyatta two weeks ago.

According to the Director of Health Services at the Nairobi Metropolitan Services Dr. Josephine Kibaru, the mass testing for Corona virus will take place at St Teresa’s Boys Secondary School, New Eastleigh Primary School, and Zawadi Primary School.

Kibaru called on the area residents to come out in large numbers to be tested.

Eastleigh,a major business hub in Nairobi , was declared a COVID-19 hot spot with president Uhuru Kenyatta declaring a 15-day cessation of movement in the area as well as Old Town area of Mombasa following increased cases of COVID-19.

Nairobi county continues to lead with the highest corona virus cases in the country followed by Mombasa.

According to latest updates from Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe on Tuesday, Nairobi has 470 people infected with COVID-19, while Mombasa has 331 cases.

Kenya has recorded a total of 963 cases as of  May 20.

Border Infections

President Kenyatta last weekend shut borders with Tanzania and Somalia citing an increase in cross-border infections. Cargo vehicles were exempted, but drivers have to be tested for Coronavirus at border points and issued with COVID-free certificates.

Total recoveries = 358
Total deaths = 50
