City Park Killer Cops Deny Murder Charges

Two police officers charged with opening fire at two revellers in Nairobi’s city park last month have denied the charges the murder charges levied on them.

The two, William Kipkorir and Godfrey Kipngetich have been charged with the murder of Janet Waiyaki, who died after the cops opened fire at a car she was in together with her nephew Bernard Chege, who is still nursing injuries in a city hospital.

They both discharged 15 bullets from their AK47 rifles, killing Waiyaki on the spot

According to the police, the occupants of the car parked the car at the park for far too long and “took a bit too so long to disembark” prompting the curiosity of the officers and when the latter approached the car, the driver sped off and they consequently opened fire.

Waiyaki was buried at her home in Murang’a County on May 31.

The judge ruled that the accused be detained at Nairobi Remand Prison in Industrial area, and directed the prosecution to file formal application on bail within the next five days.
