Brigid Kosgei Sets New Record In London Marathon

25-year-old Brigid Kosgei is the new London Marathon champion after she set a new record ( 66 minutes and 42 seconds).

Kosgei, who is also the Chicago marathon champion, recorded the fastest time for the women’s race in the second half of the race. She ran it in 66 minutes and 42 seconds.

She has become the youngest woman to win the London marathon.

Brigid Kosgei beat Vivian Cheruiyot who won last year’s race. Cheruiyot came in second while Glady Cherono finished fourth and  Mary Keitany, who has won the London marathon three times before came out fifth.

KIPCHOGE WINS MEN’S RACE FOR RECORD FOURTH TIME

Kenya’s celebrated veteran athlete and world champion Eliud Kipchoge  completed the marathon in the second fastest time in marathon history, two hours, two minutes and 37 seconds,  ahead of Ethiopians Mosinet Geremew and Mule Wasihun.

Britain’s Sir Mo Farah, who was hoping to win his first London Marathon, finished fifth.
