KENYA WINS EAST AFRICAN DERBY AGAINST TANZANIA

Man of the Match; Michael Olunga, alias, “Engineer”,

Kenya made a great come back in their second match at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament on Thursday, beating Tanzania 3-0 in a thrilling match to keep alive hopes of reaching the second round in the tournament.

Michael Olunga, alias, “Engineer”, scored twice as Kenya came from behind to dim Tanzania’s early victory.

Tanzania’s Taifa Stars had taken an early lead, scoring their first goal within the first seven minutes before Johanna Omolo equalized for Harambee Stars. Olunga scored the second goal for Kenya in a sterling, overhead kick but even before Kenyans could celebrate the goal, Mbwana Aly Sematta restored Tanzania’s lead.

Engineer Olunga’s goal at the 80th-minute cemented Kenya’s victory in the lively East African derby.

The result moves Kenya level on three points with Senegal, who they face in the last group game. Senegal, the tournament’s favourites, were beaten 1-0 by Algeria.

Kenya lost their opening match to Algeria 2- 0.

After two rounds, former champions Algeria have six points, Senegal and Kenya three each while Tanzania is pointless.
