Witchcraft (juju) continues to be a popular practice in Africa and depending on the country one hails from, there are all sorts of bizarre stories on sorcery.

The latest incident emerging from the continent is the allegations from English Premier League Football team Tottenham’s striker, Emmanuel Adebayor, that his family is using black magic on him in order to ruin his career.

According to a radio station in Ghana (Peace FM), Adebayor’s mother is hawking polythene bags and other things at the Ghana-Togo border in order to make ends meet after the son abandoned him.

Adebayor’s elder sister, identified as Maggie, is reported to have informed the station that Adebayor had abandoned his family after kicking her mother out of the family house over a year ago.

“As at now, our mother is selling polythene bags, padlocks and other things on the Ghana-Togo border, she has not seen him for more than a year and he rejects her calls any time,” she said.

Adebayor denies throwing his mother out but maintains that he decided to be alone since his family has been using juju on him.

“I never sacked my mum from the house, she decided to leave the house but how am I going to be in touch with my mum if my mum is the one telling everyone that my work will not go forward, so I will just be on my side and do my thing.

They should stop talking, talking. They should stop doing juju on me; they should leave me alone. They don’t listen to me so I don’t know how to solve this now. Obviously I am not a pastor, I am a footballer so I cannot point out a witch.” he said.

Well, the career of the Togolese international has been plummeting in the last few months and grapevine has it that Tottenham is keen on offloading the striker in the January transfer window, following a series of poor performances.

GALATASARAY has been reported to be poised to inquire about the availability of Tottenham striker.

Early this month Adebayor was also on the receiving end of Tottenham fans on claims that he criticized them after the home defeat the club suffered to Stoke a few weeks ago. The player was alleged to have said that it would be better if the club played away from home due to the negative atmosphere created by home fans.

He however released a statement refuting the claims citing that his comments had been thrown out of proportion.

“I would like to clarify some recent reports in the newspapers,” read the statement.

“I have NEVER criticized Tottenham fans. I just merely suggested that it would be more positive if they got behind the team more.”
