The most experienced African team in the World Cup, The Lions of Cameroon, make their entrance against a rather stubborn opposition (Mexico) who will likely have majority of fans behind them.
The Indomitable Lions come into this fixture full of confidence after their win in their last two friendlies where they won 1-0 against Moldova and drew 2-2 with European giants Germany.
The Mexican coach, Miguel Herrera, looks keen to start with Villarreal forward Guillermo Dos Santos, leaving Manchester United’s striker Javier Hernandez a.k.a Chicharito on the bench.
The experienced Rafael Marquez, the Mexican captain, will have his hands full trying to contain the Cameroon skipper Samuel Etoo. The two teams have only met once in a friendly back in 1993 and Mexico emerged winners, beating the Lions 1-0.
THE LIKELY LINE UP MEXICO AND CAMEROON
MEXICO: Talavera, Moreno, Salcido, Herrara, Dos Santos, Vezquez, Guardado, Pulido and Jimenez.
CAMEROON: Itandje, Enoh, Assou-Ekotto, Djeugoue, N’Koulou, Maukandjo, Song, Mbia, Matip, Webo and Etoo.
Well, it should be in the interest of the Kenya Forum readers to observe that Mexico has never beaten any African team in the World Cup finals tournament.
