Africans visiting Kenya will now get visas on arrival following President Uhuru Kenyatta’s announcement during his inaugural speech at the Moi International Stadium Kasarani on Tuesday.

Uhuru, who is gearing for his second term in office after he won the repeat presidential poll on October 26, added that the decision for Kenya to offer other Africans visiting the country visas on arrival has no reciprocity conditions.

“Today I am directing that any African wishing to visit Kenya’s will be eligible to receive a visa at the port of entry to underscore Kenya’s commitment, this shall not be done on the basis of reciprocity,” Uhuru said.

EAST AFRICANS TO BE TREATED LIKE KENYANS

President Uhuru also announced that East Africans will be treated like Kenyans while in Kenya and they will only need their identity cards to do business, work or to own property.

“Our brothers and sisters in the EAC, from today you will be treated like Kenyans. Like your Kenyan brothers and sisters, you will only need your identity card. You can now work, do business, own property, farm and if you wish and find a willing partner, you can marry and settle in Kenya” he said.
