Journey to Dala

Santa has come early to Kisumu residents this December after the Kenya Railway Corporation launched the Nairobi-Kisumu route.

“Let’s go to Kisumu Dala! Rediscover the magical journey to Kisumu with us aboard the train from 17th December 2021. #TwendeKisumu ,” Kenya Railway announced on social media.

The scheduled reintroduction of train passenger transport to Kisumu follows the rehabilitation of the Kisumu-Nakuru line at a Sh3.7 billion budget that will revive rail services that collapsed in the 1990s.

The first train on the route is scheduled from Nairobi to Kisumu on December 17 and is expected to make a 12-hour trip from Nairobi to Kisumu. The train will have a 10-minute stopover in Nakuru.

The century-old line has 18 stations, serving several towns.

They are just starting let’s give them time. Soon they will introduce a night train from Mombasa to Kisumu. Let’ thank KR for this initiative and support it.

What a long journey! Someone who left by bus will be taking lunch in Lwangni hotel by 1 pm in Kisumu while the train will still be meandering along with the rift valley escarpment

Andrew Onsare

Departing at 6:00pm and arriving at 5:00am would make plenty of sense.

Do your business in Nairobi, catch the evening train, sleep till morning, arrive in Kisumu and do something else.

Traveling shouldn’t be a whole days’ job.

But again what do I know?

This is great, holiday to Mombasa with style

This generation will enjoy it. This is great thought by the government of Kenya. What we yearn for is progressive moves. Kudos

A good start. But work on upgrading it to high speed. For now advantage over buses/shuttles, it’s better on mass transit, more cost-friendly, safer, smoother.

However, if we can move from Nbo to Ksm in 3.5hrs like the coast-bound one, business people who want to do to-and-fro affordably will benefit immensely. Good job.
