Suspected Al shabaab militants killed a chief and abducted two Kenya Police Reservists (KPR) in Omar Jillo village, Mandera County on Monday night.
According to the police, the attackers shot the area chief after raiding his home in the 10 pm incident.
North Eastern regional coordinator Mohamud Saleh said the gang escaped towards Somalia border which is about seven kilometers away.
Security personnel, led by KDF has moved to the area in pursuit of the attackers.
Omar Jillo is among towns in the area under dusk to dawn curfew over insecurity linked to Al-Shabaab terrorists. The other towns are Mandera Town, Arabia, Fino, Lafey Kotulo and Elwak.
Last week, two miners were killed in a quarry in Elwak by suspected Al shabaab gunmen, who also destroyed communication equipment in Amuma area.
