Latest opinion polls: gap narrow but TV debate did not change minds

Following on from yesterdays brief mention of the latest polls in Kenya, more information is now available.

The Presidential Debate?

The poll of 1650 respondents took place between the 12th and 13th this week and so should reflect the influence that the Presidential Debate may have had on the minds of the voters. However when asked, a whopping 88.2 replied that the televised debate would not affect their vote.

The Gap Narrows

Whether there were any real winners or losers in the debate, the Ipsos Synovate survey after the Presidential Debate showed a swing towards Uhuru and a swing away from Raila (see) and this is reflected in the details of the new Infotrak survey.

The previous survey by Infotrak had Cord at 49% and Jubilee at 40 % a change down of 2.6% for Raila and up 2.9% for Uhuru.

With the first elections only just over two weeks away it looks like a two horse race, but with no clear leader over 50% the re-run is pretty much assured.
