The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has today announced the arrest of a man suspected to be part of the gang that killed a woman and raped her three grandchildren and the househelp in Litein, Kericho county.
According to the DCI, the suspect was positively identified by the girls from an identification parade.
The gang of 4 armed raided the home in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, severely injured a 78-year-old man, fatally wounded his wife aged 73years, robbed them of money and sexually assaulted their 3 granddaughters aged 11, 13 and 20.
The man and the girls are recuperating in a local hospital with the police saying they are working round the clock to bring the suspects to book.
Litein residents have decried the rising cases of insecurity in the area, saying such cases have become rampant.
MOB LYNCH LITEIN MURDER, RAPE SUSPECT
An angry mob on Thursday also lynched another suspect, believed to be part of the gang.
The man was allegedly also identified by the girls and according to witnesses, he lived just afew kilometres from the victims’ house.
County police commander James Rugera confirmed the incident and said the man’s body has been transferred to the Kapkatet Hospital mortuary.
WOMAN RAPED, MURDERED IN KIRINYAGA
In another bizzare incident, a woman in Kirinyaga county was raped, murdered and her body hanged on an electric pole.
Damaris Njeri, 22, had been missing for three days before her body was discovered on 11th February.
Police are hunting down her lover, who is the prime suspect.
