The police have revealed the identity of a man, who was shot dead by unknown assailants on Thika Road on Tuesday night.
The man, who had only been identified as a businessman from Roysambo after lifeless body was found in his bullet ridden Mercedes benz, is reportedly Wilson Mwangi Munene, allegedly a private detective.
Central Regional Commissioner Wilson Njega had on Wednesday said that authorities had identified the man, but declined to disclose his name.
Munene, who according to the police resided in Kasarani with his family, was gunned down by unknown assailants near the Vincentian Retreat Prayer Centre near Thika town at 10pm, after his killers blocked his car and sprayed atleast 40 bullets on his Mercedes Benz compressor KCE 183Z .
Njenga said that they are yet to establish the motive of the killing.
“We are yet to establish the motive behind the killing. It is, however, clear that several normal firearms were used in the attack. Cartridges collected show AK-47 and a pistol may have been used in the attack,” he said.
Munene reportedly lived in Kasarani with his family.
Controversial businessman Jacob Juma was killed in similar fashion in 2016, also at 10 p.m near Lenana School. His bullet riddled vehicle, was found in a ditch.
To date the police are yet to resolve the murder.
