Ann Kananu Sworn in as Nairobi Governor

Lady Justice Lilian Mutende on Tuesday swore in Ann Kananu Mwenda as the third Governor of Nairobi City County. Kananu, who has been serving as Governor in acting capacity following the impeachment of former governor Mike Sonko has promised to restore the lost glory of the county.

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko appointed Kananu as his deputy in January last year. The Deputy Governor vacancy was occasioned by the resignation of Polycarp Igathe.

Kananu praised the Nairobi Metropolitan Services for its role in transforming the city saying she will work hand in hand with the team.

Kananu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology and Security Management, awarded by Dedan Kimathi University of Technology in 2016. She also holds a Diploma in Criminology and Security Management, obtained from St. Paul’s University, Limuru.

Kananu Nominates Deputy Governor

Nairobi Governor Ann Kananu has nominated former Mbotela Councillor Paul Mutunga Mutungi as her deputy a day after she was sworn in.

Mutungi will be vetted by the Nairobi County Assembly before he is sworn in.
