Fury After Student Is Raped In Moi Girls School

There is a mounting public uproar following revelations that a student was raped in Moi Girl’s School Nairobi on Saturday night. Alumni of the institution joined parents and activists on Monday in a protest at the school, demanding for that the principal resigns.

Medical reports have confirmed that the victim, a 15 year old form two student, was indeed sexually assaulted in Moi girls.

FIVE GIRLS AND TEACHERS ORDERED TO GIVE DNA SAMPLES

Five male teachers and two subordinate staff were on Monday ordered to give DNA samples to investigators. Detectives from Kilimani police station and Nairobi County police headquarters are investigating the incident.

It’s alleged that the perpetrators, three men, broke into a cubicle shared by four girls and assaulted the girls. One girl managed to escape unhurt, two other were physically assaulted but escaped, while one was raped.

The school management has been accused of trying to cover up the issue by not responding to the girl’s distress calls on time and also for allegedly asking them not to spread “fake news” regarding the incident.

The school has since been closed indefinitely following the incident.

Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed said that the closure will allow police and her ministry to conduct investigations into the reported assault.

The Moi Girls rape saga comes in the heels of the dormitory inferno the left seven students dead in 2017.
