JSC begins interviews for Deputy Chief Justice position

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has today kicked off interviews for candidates shortlisted for the Deputy Chief Justice (DCJ) position.

High Court Judge Lady Justice Abida Ali-Aroni will be the first to face the panel followed by Appellate Judge Agnes Murgor in the afternoon.

Last month JSC  shortlisted 13 female candidates in the quest to find a successor of retired Lady Justice Kalpana Rawal, who lost an appeal to cling on the seat over an age retirement threshold .

On 22nd September 2016, JSC nominated high court judge Justice David Maraga as Kenya’s next Chief Justice. Maraga’s name has already been sent to President Uhuru Kenyatta who will then forward it to Parliament for approval.
