The former Speaker of the National Assembly, Kenneth Marende, was yesterday elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Power Company Ltd.
Marende becomes the 25th chairman of the board in the firm’s 94-year history.
He was elected to the board by the company’s shareholders during an Annual General Meeting held last month.
He succeeds Eliazar Ochola who served a four-year term.
“I look forward to working with the board in support of the management and employees of Kenya Power in order to sustain the company’s business growth and enhance customer service for the benefit of shareholders and the economy at large,” he said.
Marende, who is a lawyer by profession, also served as the Member of Parliament for Emuhaya Constituency from 2002 to 2007.
The shareholders also elected two new directors – Adil Khawaja of Hamilton Harrison & Mathews Advocates and Wilson Kimutai, an investment banker at Quadrix Capital Management.
