Migori governor Okoth Obado is among three other suspects that will today be charged with aiding and abetting the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.
Obado spent the weekend in a police cell after he was arrested on Friday on the Director Of Public Prosecutions (DPP) instructions.
The Migori governor has already been presented in court by homicide detectives and will appear before high Court judge Jessie Lessit.
According to the DPP Obado aided the murder of 26-year-old Sharon Otieno, the woman he confessed to having had an affair with. She was seven months pregnant with his child when she was brutally murdered last month.
The other two men who will be charged alongside the Migori governor for the murder of Sharon Otieno are his two aides; Michael Oyamo and Caspar Obiero.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Eric Kinoti had dispatched a special team of detectives to probe the murder of Sharon Otieno and attempted murder of NMG reporter Barrack Oduor after the former’s mutilated body was discovered in Kodera forest in Homabay County, three days after she went missing.
The 16-member team comprises of detectives drawn from the Homicide Investigation Unit, the Special Crimes Prevention Unit and Serious Crime Units.
