LUPITA WINS IMAGE AWARD

After earning rave reviews and a slew of nominations, Ms Nyong’o bagged among others the Screen Actors Guild and Critics’ Choice Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role and she has yet again won another award after she was awarded a NAACP Image Award for outstanding supporting actress in the movie 12 Years a Slave which swept the film categories with four awards over the weekend. These included outstanding motion picture, directing for Steve McQueen and writing for John Ridley in addition to Lupita’s.

The NAACP awards are presented annually by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, and the civil rights group’s members select the winners.

Lupita revealed that she never really expected to get the role of ‘Patsey’ in 12 years a slave in an interview with a leading local TV station in the country.

“When I learned Steve McQueen was directing and Brad Pitt was producing, I thought; well, this is huge. I had no expectation of getting the role at all. It was just too out there for me to think I had a chance but I was determined to get it in the ten minutes I had to prove myself.” said the breakout star of 12 Years a Slave.

IT’S JUST THE BEGINNING FOR MS NYONG’O

Well, you’ve not seen the last of Lupita as she is to grace our screens yet again in a new Hollywood action thriller titled ‘Nonstop’ which is set to premier by the end of this month. She stars as a flight attendant in an international plane that gets hijacked 40,000 feet above the air which is a totally different role from the one she played in 12 years a slave, which is a great thing since this will give her a chance to show just how dynamic an actor she can be.
