Or how long can you hold your breath under water? Whatever your answer may be, one thing is for sure, you won’t beat the new Samsung Galaxy S5 as it can stay under water for up to 30 minutes according to the PR blurb released at the recent Mobile World Congress wireless show in Barcelona, Spain, where the S5 received it international unveiling.

Quite why you should want to hold the S5 under water is another matter (and be warned, it is not waterproof) but the new Samsung does appear to have several other positive features.

LARGER SIZE, BIGGER MEMORY

The highly anticipated Samsung S5 is larger than its predecessor, the S4, with dimensions of 142 X 72.5 X 8.1 mm. It runs on the Android 4.4.2 operating system, supported by GHz quad-core processor with 2 GB RAM and internal memory of 16/32 GB which can be expanded to 128 GB using a microSD card.

IMPROVED CAMERA

It is worth mentioning the much improved camera features as we are talking of a 16 mega pixel capacity which is quite big for a phone. Its auto focus is also much faster, taking just 0.3 seconds to focus. The camera also has a High Dynamic Range feature which makes it possible to capture both images and videos in rich tone even in poor lighting situations.

FASTER CONNECTIVITY

Speed seems to be of the essence with the S5 as it has also a faster internet connectivity running on a Long Term Evolution network with which you can download a GB of data in 30 seconds, although you may not be able to enjoy that kind of speed here in Kenya at the moment as we are still running on a 3G network.

‘FITNESS TRACKER’

For all you fitness lovers out there, the S5 has something for you with a built-in heart rate monitor, pedometer and fitness tracker. All you have to do is open up the user friendly app and the S5 will give you the reading within seconds (speed is the theme again).

KSH70,000…

There has been a lot of interest from Kenyans about the Samsung S5 with enquiries about its features and price going around. Since the Galaxy S5 isn’t for sale in Kenya until April 11th there is still no ‘clear word’ about the price but rumor has it that you would need to part with about Ksh70,000 to get your hands on it.
