JAPAN FAIL TO BREAK 10 MAN GREECE

GROUP C

GREECE 0-0 JAPAN

Greece played with 10 men after their captain got his second booking in the 38th minute, but the team still held on to a goalless draw with Japan. After C. Katsouranis was given his matching orders, the Greek adopted a defensive set up and held firm. Japan failed to take advantage and even the introduction of Manchester United’s Shinji Kagawa could not help break the deadlock.

GROUP D

ENGLAND 1-2 URUGUAY

uruguay vs englandEngland stand on the brink of an early exit of the World Cup 2014 after the Liverpool striker Luiz Suarez scored a brace to send Roy Hodgson’s men to the bottom of group D. The Uruguay coach Óscar Tabárez, risked to have Suarez play regardless of being unfit but it was eventually worth it even though Suarez limped off minutes after his winning goal.

Now the fate of England is not in their hands and they just have to wait for the results of tonight’s clash between Italy and Costa Rica.
