TODAY’S QUARTER FINAL FIXTURE
The two teams have met three times in this competition. In 1958 France won 6-3 to take the 3rd place spot. In 1982 they met again in the semi finals and the game was forced into penalties after a 3-3 draw and Germany won 5-4. In yet another semi finals in 1986, Germany won 2-0.
The two teams will be looking up to their target men Muller (Germany) and Benzema (France) for the goals to carry them past this stage. The center referee is from Argentina, Nestro Pitana.
11pm – BRAZIL VS COLOMBIA
The South American rivals have met 25 times but never in the World Cup. It will be a game of the two top number 10s, Neymar and Rodriguez. Colombia qualified for the quarter finals for the first time and are hoping it wont stop here.
Brazil will do without the services of Luiz Gustavo who is serving a suspension after accumulation of yellow cards. The center ref is Carlos Veladco from Spain.
