SUPER COP RESCUES MAN FROM OLX ROBBERS IN STUNNING CHASE

AP Constable Joash Ombati

Administration Police (AP ), Constable Joash Ombati, has become the policeman that has restored some public faith in the police following his heroic act that saw him pull a stunt akin to a Hollywood movie scene in pursuit of thugs who had robbed and thrown a man out of a moving vehicle in Nairobi’s Westlands area on Thursday.

The officer, who was manning a bank, saw a man who was screaming “mwizi” mwizi” (thugs)  being thrown out of a moving vehicle and the occupants sped off! Without hesitation, Ombati, quickly told the victim to proceed to the police station as he hoped in a nearby taxi and gave chase to the robbers.

“I shot at the tires, about eight times with the intention of bringing the car to a stop but the driver carried on even with the flat tires,” the officer told the Daily Nation.

The officer also adds that as they pursued the robbers he also gave safety tips to the taxi driver, instructing him on what to do in case the thugs opened fire.

Eventually, the thugs ran into a dead end and the officer managed to subdue the assailants, two men.

In a video circulating on social media, furious members of the public in the vicinity can be heard urging the officer to execute the thugs, who had already been subdued and were laying face down on the ground.

Officer Joash Ombati, however, said that the suspects had already surrendered and there was no threat warranting him to open fire.

suspected robbers Sameer Abdulaziz Kassim and Peter Kavoi Musili.

He managed to recover the money that had been stolen from the victim, Amos Charo, who told the police he was from Voi and had come to Nairobi to purchase building materials. He had allegedly made contact with the two suspects on the online trading website, OLX, where they had posed as traders.

The two suspects were identified as Sameer Abdulaziz Kassim and Peter Kavoi Musili.

Kenyans have taken to social media to give praise and show gratitude to the officer for his bravery even though Ombati has maintained that he was just doing his job.

Perhaps what has surprised the public is that there was no bloodshed and a policeman actually exercised diligence in his work.
