The new Samsung Galaxy S4 launched in Kenya

Gone are the days when Africa, or Kenya to be specific, had to wait for an age for new technologies or gadgets to be launched locally after their unveiling in other world markets. We no longer have to wait for too long to enjoy new technologies especially when it comes to communication gadgets.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is the newest techie gadget in town having been launched globally on 27th April 2013. Riding on the success of its predecessors, the S4 appears to be really just an improved version of the S3 rather than a revolution but this hasn’t prevented the new Smartphone becoming a hit because the improvements are huge.

POWERFUL BUT PLASTIC

Samsung has taken each spec of the already excellent Galaxy S3 and given them a kick up the backside making the S4 the most powerful phone ever according to cnet.co.uk.

The Samsung S4 is 5 inches in size with a Full HD screen, a powerful quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera and 4G connectivity for super-fast data speeds. Its plastic construction could be a drawback however, and some might find it complicated to use.

Already Airtel and Safaricom have launched pre-orders for the Samsung S4 as there is strong competition from the two in delivering the best bundle for the device.

Safaricom priced the device at Ksh. 57,999 and even put up a pre-order link. Airtel’s price for the gadget is Ksh. 56,999, and you can also pre-order through this link, and the price drops to Ksh. 52,999 if you make pre-orders using Airtel money. It looks like a good bargain as it is cheaper compared to the recommended retail price of Ksh. 64,999 according to multiple sources at Samsung East Africa.

The Kenya Forum is eagerly waiting for a response from Apple’s iPhone.
