Kalonzo, Uhuru, Odinga And Ruto Join Hands

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto have apologised to Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka for the hurtful things they said to each other during the electioneering period.

Uhuru, who was speaking at the just concluded National Breakfast Day at Safari Park hotel on Thursday, set the stage by calling Ruto, Odinga and Kalonzo to join him on the stage and went ahead to apologise to Raila.

“We’ve campaigned against one another, we have said nasty things about each other, we have hurt one another another, I ask for your forgiveness and I tender my apology,” Uhuru said to Odinga before passing the microphone to Ruto to do the same to Kalonzo.

“When it comes to being angry because of political outcomes, I think I was the culprit number one. One of the lessons I have learnt is to never be angry at your political competitor- it does not help,” Kalonzo said.

“It’s good to look forward, it’s good to look forward and forget, “he added.

Kalonzo further stated that the leader’s now need to reach out to the people.

“Today we are moving from the handshake to the hug- how beautiful would that be if the hug would take place in every village in our country People are still hurting out there- let us reach out to them” he said.

The four promised to support the president in the war against graft.

The Kenya National Prayer Breakfast, now in its 16th edition, is an annual an interdenominational event which takes place once every year on the last Thursday in the month of May, with the aim of uniting the nation in prayer.

The Event is normally organized by Parliament with the aim of bringing together the Executive, elected representatives and other persons in leadership positions in order to pray and reaffirm their commitment to God and dedicate the nation to divine protection.

This Year’s National Prayer Day theme is National Reconciliation.
