The Frenchman, who is a former coach for the Congo National team, has been awarded a three-year contract.
The Kenya Football Federation (FKF) has appointed Sebastian Migne as the new head coach for Harambee Stars.
The Frenchman, who is a former coach for the Congo National team, has been awarded a three-year contract.
Migne takes over from Paul Put who resigned in February citing personal reasons, barely three months into his appointment.
Stanley Okumbi, who has been relegated to the U-20, had been in charge of the national team in acting capacity.
FKF also unveiled Nicolas Bourriquet who will be Migne’s assistant. The new harambee stars coach is set to bring two more experts on the technical bench — goalkeeper trainer, Guiilaine Coffey and chief medical officer, Ludovic Breul.
FKF president Nick Mwendwa said Migne has what it takes to take the national team to the next level.
“He will take us through the 2019 Africa Nations Cup qualifiers, the 2020 Olympics and importantly 2021 Africa Nations Cup.”
Harambee stars is on the race to qualify for the 2019 Africa Nations Cup, in a group that also includes Ghana, Sierra Leone and Ethiopia.
Stars lost their opening match 2-1 to the Leone Stars in June and are set for their next qualifier match with with Ghana in September and thereafter, home and away fixtures against Ethiopia the following month.
“It’s a shame we lost the first game (to Sierra Leone) but everything is not lost,” said Migne.
Migne has promised to ensure that Harambee Stars qualify for the 2021 Africa Nations Cup in Guinea. He will also manage the U-23 team through the 2020 Olympic Games qualifiers.
