Barely two days after the Kenya Airways finally suspended its flights to the Ebola hit West African countries to the relief of Kenyans, the news emerging is that the Ebola scare has now shifted from the airports to the Malaba, Busia borders which links Kenya to Uganda.

County officials in Busia have reported that more than 100 people from Ebola stricken countries in West Africa have entered Kenya through the borders although the national government in Nairobi county has disputed the claims.

According to Ambrose Fwamba, a county health official in Busia, at least 122 people from the four countries have entered the country through the Malaba and Busia borders in the last few days.

Due to the recent cancellations of flights to the three West African countries, travellers have devised new strategies to access Kenya, where they board flights to Uganda then travel to Kenya by road.

The National carrier Kenya Airways officially stopped its flights to Sierra Leone and Liberia on Tuesday midnight, following a government order. The directive came as the government tried to contain the Ebola virus that has so far killed at least 1,145 people.

The Ebola outbreak has spread from Guinea to Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria.
