Citizen TV journalist Jackie Maribe is finally out of prison a day after she was granted bail in the Monica Kimani murder case.

Maribe was granted bail on Tuesday but it was not until yesterday noon when she was set free following an allegedly “frustrating process” of getting the bail papers signed by the relevant authorities as alleged by former State House Digital Communications Director Dennis Itumbi, a friend of Maribe’s.

According to Itumbi, who took to Twitter to protest, someone was out to frustrate the process so that Maribe could spend another day in prison.

“Interesting events at the Deputy Registrar in the High Court. We completed the bond process for our friend Jacque Maribe at 12pm and till now no progress and she is looking at another night in prison despite being freed by The Court yesterday. Let me tell you of the games,” ” Itumbi said in one of the tweets.

He further revealed that he alleged games employed on Tuesday saw the Deputy Registrar decline to sign the letter committing documents to land registry and registrar of persons.

Maribe, who has been in remand at the Lan’gata women’s prison for the past one month, was on Tuesday granted a Sh2 million surety bond with an alternative of a Sh1 million surety cash bail by Justice James Wakiaga.

The journalist, who is a prime-time news anchor Citizen Tv, was however barred from getting on air until the case is determined.

Her fiancé Joseph Irungu alias Jowie, was however denied bail by the judge who described him as a “female version of a slay queen and a woman eater”.

Jowie and Maribe were arrested and charged with the brutal murder of Monica Kimani following recommendations from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

“I have independently reviewed the evidence so far on record and am satisfied that there exists a prima facie case to warrant criminal prosecution against the following individuals,” DPP Noordin Haji said while recommending their charges.
