Kenyans react to DNA self test kits

Kenyans have reacted with excitement to the news that it will now be possible to conduct DNA testing in the convenience of their homes.

This comes after a home DNA test collection kit was declared available at various pharmacies at a retail cost of about Sh800, which seems to be an affordable cost for the majority of Kenyans compared to the ash 20,000 market rate for DNA tests.

Paternity issues have been a common contentious issues in the society, with a common swahili asserting that “Mama ndio ajuaye baba mtoto” (it’s only a mother who knows the real father of her child).

Below are some of the reactions shared by Kenyans on social media.

Kaha Samuel: DNA is for the small boys who don’t want to take responsibility

Peter Kiritu: The government should come up with safe and efficient exchange program. Kila mtu alee watoto wake.

Godfrey K Githinji Ni mzuri, wife akileta stress unaitoa unaambia watoto ‘ebu temeni mate hapa’

Agnes Muthoni: Men wamekua wakifikiria ndio wanajua kucheat sana its your time to know the meaning of heartbreak.

Nyathi Amilo: The price is relative to cheap and that’s what matters

Esther Jackie Agung: Let me sit down and watch, men this should be a must in your household

Elton Daniel Ouma: I really support the idea…though it gonna break alot of the existing marriages but it’s a good thing

Judie Mutiria: Hapa ndio utajikuta kama wewe si wenu
