What do you think, Kenya Forum readers? Below are what we believe to be the 13 points demanded for action by Raila Odinga and CORD at yesterday’s Saba Saba rally. Gone is the call for national dialogue to be replaced by a campaign to hold a referendum and the launch of ‘Okoa Kenya’, a movement to ‘defend the Constitution’.

1. Convene an all-inclusive National Referendum Committee to prepare for a plebiscite on the critical challenges facing the nation.
2. Mandate the National Referendum Committee to ensure maximum participation of the people in the referendum; in formulating question(s) for the poll; collecting and collating a million signatures to initiate the vote.
3. Immediate disbandment of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission and establishment of a new polls body.
4. Launch ‘Okoa Kenya’, a people’s movement to defend the Constitution and protect the gains made in democratic governance.
5. Jubilee administration to address rising cost of living by reviewing the taxation regime.
6. Immediate end to corruption, wasteful spending and reckless borrowing within and by the Jubilee Government.
7. The ruling coalition to take immediate steps to withdraw KDF soldiers from Somalia.
8. Jubilee administration to take visible, decisive action to deal with runaway insecurity, including holding senior security officials accountable for hundreds of Kenyans who have been killed and maimed in the various attacks.
9. Reject attempts by the Executive through Parliament to bastardise the Report of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC Report).
10. The ruling coalition to immediately address underlying land issues that are at the heart of some of the most enduring historical injustices and conflicts.
11. A national audit and publication by the Public Service Commission of all appointments made by the PSC by the Jubilee administration.
12. That 40 per cent of the projected ordinary revenue of the current fiscal year be allocated to county governments.
13. A national audit of how resources at the disposal of the Jubilee administration are applied across the country.
